At Anime Expo 2022, Viz Media showed an exclusive interview with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War director Tomohisa Taguchi and producer Yoshihiro Tominaga. Recently, Viz Media shared the full interview via its official Twitter. In the interview, director Taguchi and producer Tominaga shared new information about the upcoming Bleach anime, along with the fact that they are running behind schedule. “To quote a famous animation director…. of course, we’re falling behind schedule (laughs)” said Tominaga jokingly when asked to give an update on the production progress. While he started with a joke about how anime production being delayed is a given for most projects, he did confirm that production is indeed behind their planned schedule. “Jokes aside, we’re behind due to our efforts to up the quality of the show,” said Tominaga. “Everyone involved wants to create a good show… so, I believe the schedule is being pushed out for a good reason.” One reason why the anime is running behind schedule is that the production team is working hard to bring the epic arc to life in the upcoming anime. “Even when I’m cutting the storyboards, I’m thinking, how can I make these characters from the manga look even more awesome in the anime?” said Taguchi. Aside from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War running behind schedule, the interview also revealed other interesting information. For one, Tominaga and Taguchi shared that the Everything But the Rain side arc will be adapted. An adaptation of this side arc should be great news for fans as this is considered one of the best and most emotional arcs in the Bleach manga. The anime’s director and producer also shared other info, including what they’re most excited for fans to see when the series airs.
