Earlier this week on the same day as the Episode 1 release, the official MAPPA YouTube channel uploaded the official anime opening for the show. After just a couple of days, the opening now has over 11 million views.
Chainsaw Man Anime Premiere
The high number of views for the opening shouldn’t come as a surprise for many anime and manga fans. After all, there was a lot of hype behind the show even before it aired thanks to the manga’s popularity. In case you’re unfamiliar, Chainsaw Man is an anime series by MAPPA that’s based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The manga was initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020. After a year-and-a-half break, the manga returned with Part 2 which began in July, though its serialization was shifted to Shonen Jump+. Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a teenager who is stuck in debt after his father died. While working for a yakuza group to repay the debt, Denji is betrayed, but he survives when his pet, Pochita, fuses with him and transforms him into a chainsaw-devil hybrid. The first episode of the anime was released on October 11, and it trended online and drew praise from many fans. While there were some who complained about the CGI, fans are overall happy with the show and are already calling it one of the biggest shows of the season.
Chainsaw Man Opening Views
The Chainsaw Man anime’s opening also drew lots of interest thanks to its range of movie references, and for featuring the song Kick Back by Kenshi Yonezu. Interest in the opening was high enough that the official video uploaded by MAPPA got 11 million views already. For comparison, the opening for Spy x Family Part 2 has over 9 million views, even though it was uploaded two weeks ago. Even another anticipated show like Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 has lower views for its opening. While the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War opening is yet to be shared online, it’s going to be difficult for it to reach the view count of the Chainsaw Man opening. Aside from the opening, there’s also a lot of buzz about the series’ ending, especially as there are 12 unique endings, one for each episode. Read Next: Who Is the Strongest Devil in Chainsaw Man?
