Oshi no Ko – The Newest Upcoming Anime From Kaguya-sama’s Creator
In case you’re unfamiliar, Oshi no Ko is an upcoming TV anime by Doga Kobo, and it is based on the manga of the same name that serializes in Weekly Young Jump in Japan and on Manga Plus internationally. The manga is written by Aka Akasaka, the author of the hit manga series, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, which ended its run recently. Unlike Kaguya-sama: Love Is War though, Oshi no Ko is only written by Akasaka. Handling illustration duties is Scum’s Wish creator Mengo Yokoyari. As for its story, the series follows Aquamarine and Ruby Hoshino, the children of the popular idol Ai Hoshino. Without anyone knowing, the twins are a reincarnation of a doctor and a patient who are fans of Ai. Oshi no Ko follows the siblings as they work together to become idols like their mother, following a major event. In their journey, the two come face-to-face with the darker side of the idol and entertainment industry. Much like Kaguya-sama, Akasaka’s latest work is also a hit sales-wise. As of October 2022, the manga has over 3 million copies in circulation. READ MORE: How Oshi no Ko and Kaguya-sama Are Related Explained
