In a recent interview with The Guardian, Cheadle opened up about the lack of exploration of his MCU character so far where he argued that his story has not been told yet despite being a presence in the franchise for more than 10 years at this point. “There’s nothing that actually has been explored,” he said. “Who are his friends? What are his relationships? What does he want? I’m not complaining. But I don’t think we know anything yet.” The actor also jokingly suggested that he would also love to explore “his favorite ice cream flavor” and “peccadilloes.”
Fortunately, Rhodey will finally get his due soon as Marvel Studios is currently developing the Armor Wars movie, which is slated to be his solo project. It was initially planned as a six-episode Disney+ series back when they first announced it before they decided to turn it into a feature film instead. Long-time fans of the MCU may agree with Cheadle’s comments since we’ve really never seen his character get explored with such depth just like the other characters and some would argue that he was always in the shadow of Tony Stark in the past projects. Now, it looks like the character will finally become a major presence in the future of the MCU. Not only he will star in his own solo movie, but he is also slated to appear in the upcoming series Secret Invasion where he is expected to have a pivotal role based on the information that we’ve heard so far about the project.
