Recently, the high-resolution cover art for Volume 19 was released on the Shueisha website. Along with the cover, information on its length, price, release date, and store availability were revealed. The new cover features Goku happily spending time with his family, including his wife Chi-Chi, and sons Gohan and Goten. The cover is drawn in Akira Toriyama’s signature style, but a happy family isn’t all there is to it. If you look at the water reflection in the lower right corner, you’ll see Goku’s original Saiyan family. Specifically, the reflection features his father Bardock, his mother Gine, and his brother Raditz. Goku himself is also in the reflection, but he’s inside the pod being carried by Bardock. While this is a new high res look at the cover, the Volume 19 arc has been leaked earlier this month, albeit in a lower resolution. Reactions to the leaked art were positive, with fans on Reddit praising the artwork’s design and the parallel between Goku and Bardock’s family. Bardock’s family being on the cover wasn’t just done because it is a nice parallel. It’s also because Bardock plays an important role in the chapters included in the volume. Volume 19 includes chapters 81-84. The events of these chapters include flashbacks to when Bardock was fighting Gas. The events in the past prove to be the key to defeating Gas.
