Recently, info about the series’ return was shared on the Dragon Ball official website and Twitter account. There, details about the manga’s new arc were revealed.
Dragon Ball Super Next Manga Arc
If you’re unfamiliar, Dragon Ball Super is a manga series written by Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou. It began serialization in V Jump back in June 2015. The series is set four years after the events of Dragon Ball Z, specifically after Goku defeated Majin Buu. Though as you may have expected, new foes emerge that threaten Earth’s peace, as well as the rest of the universe. Given the franchise’s popularity, the manga received an anime series adaptation by Toei Animation. The anime featured 131 episodes and aired between July 2015 and March 2018. While the anime hasn’t been renewed yet, the manga continued to be released monthly in Shueisha’s V Jump. Just last August, the Granolah the Survivor Saga ended, which was followed by a hiatus. The reason for the break was that Toyotarou and Toriyama are preparing for the series’ next arc. While it wasn’t revealed when the series will return, it was finally revealed that Super will return to serialization with a new arc. From the looks of it, the focus of this next arc will be on the younger characters of the series. RELATED: Dragon Ball Super Manga Returns With New Arc in December
Dragon Ball Super Trunks and Goten’s New Looks
The latest update on the website revealed that the next arc is entitled the Super Hero arc. It will also feature Trunks and Goten in new looks that are reminiscent of superhero outfits. No other details have been revealed yet, but it has been reported by some sources that this arc will take place prior to the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime movie which was released earlier this year. It makes sense if that’s the case, especially given how the next arc is also called Super Hero. This will also be an interesting development if proven true, as this will make the recent Dragon Ball movie canon. After all, Dragon Ball movies are typically not canon. What we can say for sure is that the next Dragon Ball Super arc will highlight Trunks and Goten, and it will begin on December 21, 2022, in the next V Jump issue.
