According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell have officially joined the cast of Godzilla and the Titans. The details regarding the father-son duo’s roles are currently under wraps, but there are rumors that they will play the same character with Wyatt playing the younger version of his father’s role.
They are joining the cast that already includes Kiersey Clemons, Anna Sawai, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, and Ren Watanabe. WandaVision director Matt Shakman will helm the first two episodes. Chris Black and Matt Fraction co-created the series with both also serving as executive producers. Black will also serve as the showrunner.
The series’ logline reads: “Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the Monsterverse series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
This will be Kurt’s TV comeback since the last that he appeared in a TV series was back in 1977 when he guest starred in the original Hawaii Five-O. Meanwhile, Wyatt recently appeared in the limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. Both of them are also part of the MCU with the former appearing as Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 while the latter playing John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
It is exciting to hear the official news that the Russells have joined the cast, especially for Kurt since it would be his TV comeback and we can safely assume that he will have a major role together with his son. It would be interesting to see if the project will have more casting updates soon as production is reportedly already underway.
