It has been two years since the Haikyuu!! manga ended, and since then, fans of the popular sports anime have been wondering when Season 5 of the series will be released. Haikyuu!! Season 4 had two cours. The first one aired in the first half of 2022 while the second cour was released towards the end of the same year.
What Is the Haikyuu!! Final Movie About?
Based on where Season 4 of Haikyuu!! ended, the final movie should cover the Nekoma vs. Karasuno Arc. The two full-length movies will continue where the Tokyo National Tournament has left off and will feature the highly anticipated match between Nekoma and Karasuno. Since it will be two movies, it is expected that other matches during the tournament will be showcased as well. Interested viewers can expect the shift from Karasuno to Fukurodani, as the manga explored Bokuto’s explosive play style as well. The manga also showed the complete Tokyo Nationals Arc, the Time Skip Arc, and Hinata’s trip to Brazil, which might be part of the movies too. The anime adaptation stayed true to the original manga content which is why supporters of the series can expect that the movies will mirror the manga too.
Haikyuu!! Final Movie Release Date
Based on the announcement of the official Haikyuu!! English Twitter account, the two-part film is currently under production. It has not been confirmed when the multi-part film will be released in theaters, but the movie kick-off event is scheduled for August 2023. Will there be online releases of the movies as well? We don’t know for now. We will have to wait for confirmation from Production I.G and Toho Animation, considering that they will be working on the anime films.

What Studio Is Producing the Haikyuu!! Final Movie?
It has been confirmed that Production I.G will be in charge of animating the Haikyuu!! Final movie. Production I.G is the same studio that made the Haikyuu!! anime series, so fans can expect the same treatment for the upcoming movie. The complete staff has not been announced, but what we do know for now is that Masako Sato, who is known for his notable works on Spirited Away and Summer Wars, is the project head director. Takashi Kishimoto will write the script while Takahiro Kishida will be in charge of the character designs.
