Variety has reported that HBO Max is removing 36 more titles from the platform this week including 20 of their original shows. The streamer cited its pending merge with Discovery+ as the reason why they decided to make the move.
“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and discovery+. That will include the removal of some content from both platforms,” HBO Max said in a statement.
One of the shows that the streamer is removing is the three-part animated miniseries Aquaman: King of Atlantis which was launched last year. The series is set after the events of the 2018 film Aquaman, but it is not canonical to the DCEU. James Wan serves as one of its executive producers.
Some of the other HBO Max originals that are being removed are Close Enough, Ellen’s Next Great Designer, Esme & Roy, Generation, Little Ellen, The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo, Tig n’ Seek, and many more as well as non-original content such as My Dinner with Herve and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.
The streamer also removed some of their original films earlier this year as well as selected HBO original shows. It is unknown yet whether these axed shows will move to other platforms or more shows and films will also get removed in the coming weeks.
