Speaking with Collider, HDM star Amir Wilson revealed that the third season will feature many worlds and new creatures that fans can enjoy.
“I enjoyed filming the Land of the Dead. I mean, I’ve said before, but in Season 3, there’s an introduction to many different worlds, many different characters as well. Will finds himself meeting angels and bears and seeing some familiar and unfamiliar faces.” he shared.
Seasons 1 and 2 have introduced the audience to the world of polar bears, witches, and the magisterium. Season 3 is guaranteed to add more to that.
Wilson, who plays Will, recalled one of the most emotional moments in the second season that he filmed with Andrew Scott, his father in the story, and how it remained significant for him.
He recounted, “It’s a sweet thing, isn’t it? It’s like Will gets to see his dad again, and it’s this very short and sweet moment. I would say it’s sweet up until it’s not sweet. Filming that was great. I had three days on set with Andrew and Will’s journey is personal to me, you know, personal to me in ways I don’t need to go into.”
Will is the son of an explorer who disappeared as a child through a window between worlds. When he grew up, he tried to look for his father, and that’s when he met Lyra (Dafne Keen), the prophesied child.
With the adaptation being so loyal to the book, the third series will complete the adaptation of Philip Pullman’s trilogy, taking audiences into the story of The Amber Spyglass. It is expected to continue showcasing astonishing alternate realities and multifaceted characters.
Season 3 promises to explore the journey to a dark place from which no one has ever returned and give a conclusion to Will’s story and how his connection to Lyra fulfills the prophecy.
His Dark Materials is a trilogy of fantasy novels consisting of Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.
His Dark Materials Season 3 premieres December 5 on HBO.
