Warning: Major spoilers ahead!
Is Uta the Daughter of Shanks?
No, Uta is not biologically related to Shanks in One Piece Film: Red. Shanks, like the other members of the Red Hair Pirates, treats Uta like a real daughter. They consider her family, in addition to being the musician of the entire crew. Uta’s backstory revealed that she frequently accompanied Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates on their sea adventures. Unlike Luffy, Uta is always allowed to accompany Shanks and the others, which explains how she is able to tell Luffy about their strange adventures. Everything changed one day when Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates arrived on Windmill Island without Uta. As a result, Luffy was left wondering where she was, to which Shanks replied that she had left to become the world’s greatest singer. Years later, Luffy recognized Uta on the island of Elegia as a childhood friend who used to challenge him to random contests.
How Is Uta Related to Shanks?
While they are not related, Uta is widely known to be Shanks’ daughter, especially after the fifth emperor, Monkey D. Luffy, inadvertently revealed it to her fans. This led her assailants to believe that Uta is Shanks’ greatest weakness, making her a high-priority target. Despite this, Uta is a strong and independent woman with Devil Fruit abilities. In fact, she utilizes her Sing Sing Devil Fruit power, making her a dangerous and devious opponent. A long time ago, Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates found a baby girl inside a treasure trove they stole from some random island. The baby girl was Uta, with whom Shanks felt a sudden connection after the baby girl laughed at his lame jokes. Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates have raised Uta on the high seas since then. From one adventure to the next, Uta has been there to witness Shanks’ glory and admire him from afar. Soon after, Uta met Luffy, with whom she became instant friends. However, when the Red Hair Pirates depart for Elegia Island, Uta’s fate is forever altered. The King of Elegia, Gordon, has taken a liking to Uta because she can sing well. Uta’s voice worked wonders when she was asked to perform in front of the king’s guests, to the point where the monstrous being known as the Demon King of Songs awoke from its years of slumber. The TOT-Musica took over Uta’s body and destroyed everything in sight, including the inhabitants of the island. Fortunately, Uta was stopped by the Red Hair Pirates. However, Shanks and his pirate crew sacrificed their relationship with Uta to avoid hurting her with the truth of what she did to the island. As a result, Shanks decided to leave her in Elegia under Gordon’s care while the Red Hair Pirates bear responsibility for the island’s devastation. Uta then developed a strong dislike for Shanks, his crew, and all pirates in general from this point forward. She believes that pirates should not exist and that her life’s work will be to usher in a new era of a world without them.
Who Are Uta’s Parents in One Piece Film: Red?
Unfortunately, no information about Uta’s parents is revealed in One Piece Film: Red. She was an orphan who resided inside a treasure chest that had been stolen by Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates. Her parents are undoubtedly absent throughout her story in One Piece Film: Red. Shanks, the Red Hair Pirates, Luffy, and even Gordon, King of Elegia, have been her only family throughout the film.
