When asked by The Hollywood Reporter on how Kate Hudson reacted upon being cast for the Knives Out sequel, the actress kids about being hesitant to join the cast, but then goes on to say how she was really looking forward to being a part of the project. You can read her full quote below:
Hudson is set to play as an eccentric socialite model type of character, based on what the Glass Onion trailer reveals her role to be, with one particular scene even hearing Hudson’s Birdie line saying, “Are you calling me dangerous?” In the interview, Hudson describes Birdie as a ‘hilarious, loud, bold, fabulous tone-deaf character.’
Hudson continues to gush how long it has been since she last worked together with Kathryn Hahn (to play Claire Debella) by recalling the times they spent together on their first set, even so far as to calling their friendship close to being ‘soul sisters.’
“Honestly, it was the best,” the actress expresses, “I hadn’t seen Kathryn in a long time. And then, is it 20 years this year (since How to Lose was released)? So Kathryn—we were really close for many years and then as it goes, like, kids, marriage, other kids, Southern marriages for me, she’s still in hers. It turned into years we haven’t seen each other. And when I saw her, when I was reunited with her on this movie, it was like we’d never left. And I feel like we are soul sisters. Yeah, it’s the best.”
On How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Hudson’s Andie Anderson was best friends with Kathryn Hahn’s Michelle Rueben, despite being complete opposites when it comes to pursuing love. It is so satisfying to see these two on screen together again.
Meanwhile, the Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion, will hit Netflix on December 23, 2022, with Agatha: Coven of Chaos releasing on Disney+ in Winter 2023.
