The news of the light novel spin-off was shared recently on the series’ official Twitter account. There, the image of the novel’s cover was revealed. The spin-off novel is entitled Lycoris Recoil Ordinary Days, and it is written by anime series writer Asaura, with character designer Imigimuru drawing the illustrations. As for its story, Ordinary Days follows the life of the main characters Chisato Nishigiki and Takina Inoue while working together in LycoReco. The novel will feature stories that are not shown in the anime series. While fans that are new to the series often wonder if the show is based on a manga or a novel series, that is not the case. Instead, it’s the reverse as Lycoris Recoil is an original anime series that has spawned a manga adaptation alongside this upcoming light novel. Lycoris Recoil is an original anime series by A-1 Pictures that is directed by Shingo Adachi and written by Asaura. It is set in an alternate version of Japan where an all-female group of assassins and spies called “Lycoris” is tasked with taking down criminals and terrorists. Though these agents work in secret with the public being oblivious to their existence. The story follows Takina, a Lycoris agent who is demoted for disobeying direct orders. She is assigned to work under Chisato, an expert Lycoris agent who is, unusual to say the least. Takina and Chisato are polar opposites, with Takina being serious while Chisato is more carefree. Though Takina must get along with Chisato if she wants to get her old position back. New episodes of the anime are released every week on Crunchyroll. The Lycoris Recoil spin-off light novel is set to release on September 9, 2022. Reservations are available now at Dengeki Bunko.
