Here’s What Happened Before More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Episode 6
Jirou informed Akari that he was on duty for the day and that it was time for him to leave. Before leaving, Akari decided to tease Jirou a bit. Upon reaching his class, he was surprised to see Shiori wiping the board. Shiori said she was on classroom duty for the day. Jirou got confused because he was supposed to work with Hamano, so he wondered if he got the date wrong. Shiori explained that Hamano had to attend the club president meeting after school, so she asked to switch with her. Meanwhile, Jirou was extremely happy and thanked his luck. The scene changed to Hamano and Shiori talking about Jirou and how Shiori can seduce him. Shiori was embarrassed when Hamano asked her to confess to Jirou. Hamano believed that since it was Jirou, it should be a walk in the park for her. However, Shiori said that Jirou doesn’t feel the same for her. Hamano stressed that she had never seen Jirou talking to any other girl, so it was likely that he loved her too. She went on to suggest that if Shiori wanted him to notice her, then she should kiss him. Shiori was taken aback by her radical idea, but Hamano explained that if she hesitates, Jirou’s pretend wife might succeed first. Hamano assured Shiori that she is a good girl and will win Jirou over. Elsewhere, Sachi and Natsumi are spending time with Akari. Sachi teased Akari and said that she had been staring at Jirou recently. However, Akari said that Minami was the most powerful person for her. Elsewhere, Jirou and Shiori are bonding over classroom duty. Jirou remembered how they used to work together back in junior high school. Shiori asked Jirou if he remembered Mr. Hatae, their science teacher who had a terrible fashion sense. She told him that she bumped into him in the supermarket and he was wearing a bright red flowery shirt. Suddenly, Akari, who happened to be passing by the classroom, saw Shiori and Jirou together. She immediately stopped herself from calling his name. Akari decided to walk away while Shiori and Jirou seemed to have a moment as their dusters collided on the board. Shiori then asked Jirou to close his eyes and bend down. Jirou could not believe what was happening and he thought they were about to kiss. However, Shiori said that there was some chalk on his hair and that she was merely cleaning it. Back at home, Jirou recalled how nothing happened between him and his childhood crush. Akari joined him and asked what he was thinking about. She said he looked down, so she wondered if something was bothering him. She even tried to tease him by taking Shiori’s name. Soon, they started admiring the bright night sky. Akari remarked that if she had been with Minami, the starry sky would be even prettier. Jirou appeared a bit jealous as he made a passive-aggressive remark, and suddenly, Akari asked Jirou to call her by her name. He tried to change the topic but Akari pressed him and asked why he wasn’t willing to call his wife by her name. Jirou was feeling cornered but told her that Shiori was different. However, he did end up calling Akari by her name and she couldn’t stop blushing. Akari complained that she always calls him by his name but he calls her Watanabe and that made her feel awful. The next day, the class teacher noted that due to the Couple Practical course, there was a significant drop in concentration. In order to counter this drop, the school decided to conduct spot checks, and students who fail will have to attend extra classes. Jirou was freaking out because he feared that he would score less than average in some subjects. Later, Jirou and Akari got into an argument when the former asked if she was serious about her studies. He convinced her to skip karaoke and the duo headed back home to study. Jirou was surprised when he found out that Akari is intelligent but doesn’t want to study. During the study session, Akari was finding ways to distract him. Eventually, she sat close to Jirou and asked him if his heart was racing. Jirou was trying hard not to get distracted and decided to think about something else instead. Toward the end of the episode, Jirou and Akari had quite a romantic moment. However, Akari was sad because she knew that if they get an A rank, they will switch with Shiori and Minami. She got sad because if they switch partners, she will not get the chance to say “Welcome home” and “I am home” again.
