Quentin Tarantino recently spoke to Los Angeles Times where he was asked why he hasn’t worked with Marvel or DC and the Pulp Fiction director had an easy answer. “You have to be a hired hand to do those things,” Tarantino said. He then pointed out that he has no plans of working for any of the major franchises.
“I’m not a hired hand. I’m not looking for a job,” Tarantino added. It’s an interesting way to confirm how comic book franchises work. For instance, Marvel Studios has carefully-laid plans for the MCU and each film pushes a bigger story forward. Considering that Quentin Tarantino has his own way of telling a story (and usually his own scripts to follow), it would be unlikely that any of his projects would fit into the MCU. Although he won’t be working on a comic book movie, Quentin Tarantino clearly had plans for other sci-fi franchises. We already know that he had pitched an awesome Star Trek film that would have revisited a memorable episode from The Original Series. Tarantino has since left the project, but it is believed that the movie will be moving forward with a different director. For now, it is unclear whether Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek film will be moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
