Rick, Michonne’s TWD Return
In their TWD return, Michonne could be heard saying that she knew Rick was out there and promised not to give up searching for him. Rick then appeared by the river bank, writing a letter. His original captors cornered him and urged him to surrender through the loudspeaker. This scene hinted that Rick had been on the run since he was first captured. Though many are disappointed with the Rick-centric trilogy movie, the miniseries is probably the best alternative. Rick has a lot of loose ends to tie up in Alexandria, per ScreenRant. He needs to see his kids again, and many are waiting for his much-anticipated reunion with Daryl (Norman Reedus). And as the TWD franchise has grown significantly big, the spinoffs have set up more threads that Rick and Michonne need to explore. A Glimpse of Rick & Michonne
Executive producer and episode director Greg Nicotero talked about the idea of making Rick & Michonne. “The idea really was that it was intended to be these short, small impressionistic images that tell us that Rick is still alive and he’s still fighting to get home, and Michonne is out there, and she’s still fighting to find him,” he said, via Comicbook. In the TWD finale scene, they each wrote letters to their loved ones back home, paying tribute to everyone they loved and lost for the past 11 seasons. So, that was what it was all about. And without a doubt, I feel that we captured that spirit and the spirit of moving forward what the world has in store for them.” Rick & Michonne is expected to be out sometime in 2023.
