In The Phantom Menace, Master Yaddle was purposely designed as a young version of Yoda by concept artist Iain McCaig. However, when the design wasn’t used, it was instead turned into a new character: Master Yaddle, who is 477 years old (half Yoda’s age) and yet remains to be one of the most respected members of the order because of her patience, kindness, and wisdom. She had become an active member of the Jedi High Council despite her short screen time.
Canonically, between The Phantom Menace and The Clone Wars, Yaddle disappeared, presumed to have stepped down from the council to take her own journey in Jedi affairs. However, Tales of the Jedi showed the real reason behind her sudden disappearance.
In Episode 4, titled “The Sith Lord”, Yaddle (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard) could tell something was wrong, leading her to witness Dooku plotting with Sidious and though she gave him a chance to come back to her to fight the Sith Lord, Dooku instead drew his blade and dueled with her.
While the two were equal in their battle, Dooku won the fight. Even though Yaddle was able to lift herself up after being crushed under the door, exhaustion caused her to collapse, leaving Dooku to draw his blade through her.
Fans had always speculated something was fishy about the sudden disappearance of the popular Jedi Master, and now that it’s here, it is no question that Yaddle’s fate is more gruesome than what had been initially theorized.
