However, Tatsuya Endo confirms in the Spy x Family Manga Volume 4 extra that he did not have any dog breed in mind when designing Bond’s character. In the initial designs, Bond almost looks like a Basset Hound, after sticking to the concept of a dog that lacks motivation. For reference, the most well-known Basset Hound in cartoons is Droopy. Upon checking the designs, Tatsuya Endo found out the editors did not go with Bond’s initial designs. In Endo’s words, they are not cute at all. Endo’s dog design evolved from the Basset Hound to resemble a seal with four limbs. While the designs are absurd, the editors approved them and Bond was born. In France, the Great Pyrenean Mountain Dog is a livestock guardian dog. But, until its popularity declined, the breed was a royal dog in the country. The Great Pyrenean Mountain Dog, like Bond, has a keen ability to protect people, particularly children like Anya. Despite their independent personalities, they are one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world.

What Is Bond’s Power in Spy x Family?
