Because of its huge fanbase, HBO has partnered with Naughty Dog to make a live-action series of the game. And many are eagerly awaiting for the show to come out on HBO. Here’s what we know about The Last of Us TV adaptation:
When Is The Last of Us Coming Out?
The cast of The Last of Us was first seen together in July 2021. At that time, there was speculation that the show would come out in 2022. HBO Max’s Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys clarified with Deadline that the show will not air in 2022. “They are still shooting in Canada. I imagine you will see [the show] in 2023. What I’ve seen looks amazing, so I’m excited for it, but it will not be in 2022.” In November 2022, there were reports that The Last of Us will come out on January 15, 2023. The show is expected to have a total of 10 episodes in its first season.
Will The Last of Us Story Follow the Video Game?
IGN reported that the first season of The Last of Us will cover the events from the 2013 game. But it clarified that some episodes will highlight events that “deviate greatly” from its source material. GameSpot says that it’s possible that some events of Part II will be infused in a future season, especially since the show could have three to four seasons, according to Troy Baker, who is the voice actor for Joel. Hopefully, if HBO plans to make more seasons, they won’t rush the storyline and stick to the source.
What Is The Last of Us Story About?
Last November 3, 2022, Naughty Dog released the official poster of Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) walking through an abandoned road with overgrown Cordyceps fungus around them.
The show, follows the story of the original video game, which is a post-apocalyptic adventure series. The script for the show was written by Craig Mazin.
