Before Classroom of the Elite was adapted into a manga and anime, it was originally a light novel illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose and written by Shogo Kinugasa. The light novel was published from 2015 to 2019 and was then followed by a sequel entitled Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 in 2020.
Where to Start the Classroom of the Elite Light Novels After the Anime
Seasons 1 and 2 of Classroom of the Elite covered the first seven volumes of the light novel series. This means that if someone were to read the light novels after watching the anime, it is best to start with Volume 8. The Classroom of the Elite light novel released 11 volumes (or 12 if 11.5 is considered to be one volume). We are still not sure if Season 3 will cover Year 1 of the light novels and whether Season 4 (should there be one) will cover Year 2.

The Classroom of the Elite light novel was published under MF Bunko J imprint. However, there is no official website where readers can check it out. Seven Seas Entertainment acquired the license to release the English version of the light novel for non-Japanese readers, but again, there is no official website available to access it. While there are websites offering the light novel, there is no legal website that offers it legitimately as of writing. It would be risky to go to these websites, so we recommend purchasing digital or physical copies of the translated volumes instead. Interested readers can still catch up on the entire Year 1 of Classroom of the Elite as there are four volumes left (five if Volume 11.5 is considered one volume).
Is Classroom of the Elite Worth Reading?
Classroom of the Elite is worth reading for fans of the psychological and school drama genres. The series’ story follows Kiyotaka Ayanokoji who entered the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School. He was mistaken for a sociopath but he is just a quiet boy who is not good at socializing. He wanted to have a quiet life until he met Suzune Horikita and got encouraged to help her get into Class A, along with the rest of their classmates.
