Who is Aneka in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will not only introduce who the new Black Panther is and the newcomer in the MCU, Namor, but it will also be the debut of a new member of the Dora Milaje, Aneka, and she is set to play a crucial role in the upcoming sequel. In the comics, Aneka is a combat instructor of the Dora Milaje who trains new recruits who will be serving the royal family of Wakanda. This, itself, proves how she is a skilled combatant. Eventually, she formed her very own version of the Dora Milaje, the Midnight Angels. During the San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Michaela Coel has been introduced to play the role of Aneka and it has been revealed that Aneka will be a queer member of the Dora Milaje who will have a romantic relationship with Ayo, something forbidden in Wakanda.

In an interview with Vogue earlier this year, Coel revealed the reason why she took on the role for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, “That sold me on the role, the fact that my character’s queer. I thought: I like that, I want to show that to Ghana.” With the arrival of Aneka in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also comes that of the Midnight Angels and it is expected that the group will be formed in the sequel and as seen in the trailers, the new group of protectors will be donning their very own blue suit, in contrast to the orange ones of the Dora Milaje. The looming threat of Namor comes into the picture in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and surely, Wakanda would need all the combatants they have to protect Wakanda from the incoming war against the Talocan.
