On July 27, ZETA DIVISION announced it would be joining the VALORANT Game Changers scene with a women’s roster, which consists of aco, suzu, romia, Movo, and flappy, the latter of whom had her gender questioned after the roster’s signing was announced on Twitter.
On Wednesday, ZETA DIVISION made an announcement addressing and defending flappy’s gender. ZETA said that flappy identifies as a transgender woman and s taking the necessary hormones to adhere to Riot Games’ guidelines to join the competition. According to ZETA, it had flappy’s permission to reveal the information and it seemed necessary to share the information so the rumors surrounding the team will be silenced. “Flappy, who belongs to the VALORANT GC department, which is the origin of the rumor, is a transgender woman who goes to the hospital and takes hormones in order to become a body that matches her gender identity,” said ZETA DIVISION, according to the translation. “In addition, a medical certificate from a doctor has been issued, and we have confirmed it in advance.” ZETA DIVISION and flappy will be joining the Game Changers Japan qualifiers to qualify for the Game Changers East Asia Division. By qualifying for Game Changers Asian, the team will have the chance to earn a spot at the Game Changers Champions LAN in Berlin this November.
